City Youth Ballet - Johnson City, TN

We are pleased to introduce The City Youth Ballet of Johnson City, TN, a chartered, not-for-profit performance organization offering an extensive repertoire of classical and contemporary ballet performances for the general public and for school groups throughout the year. Its mission is to provide dance entertainment and education to our Northeast Tennessee community.

Many children in our area have never heard of a ballet, much less seen one. The CYB hopes to correct this problem by going into the schools, offering free performances, and conducting workshops for children living in disadvantaged areas who are interested in learning more about this beautiful and athletic art form.

The CYB will provide high quality performances of classical ballets, such as the Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Peter and the Wolf, as well as contemporary and lesser known ballets such as Dracula and Coppelia. Original, commissioned works are also part of the CYB’s repertoire.

Along with the expertise of Susan Pace, the CYB’s Artistic Director, the CYB will bring in guest dancers from around the world to conduct workshops for its dancers and for interested members of the community.

The CYB’s Board of Directors is a group of community-minded volunteers from a wide range of professions and businesses. These directors set policy for the company and manage the company’s finances in accordance with the federal rules governing 501c(3) organizations.
